New Executive Director Announced:

Factory Two is pleased to announce that Maiya LeGardye has been selected as Interim Executive Director, effective July 1, 2026.

Maiya brings deep familiarity with our organization and community. She has served as General Manager of Flint Local 432, where she built strong relationships with our members, volunteers, and program partners. Her experience leading day-to-day operations at Local 432 gives her a strong foundation for this next chapter.

This appointment follows a structured search process led by Factory Two's Board of Directors, which included input from staff, board members, and community advisors. The Board is confident that Maiya's leadership will bring continuity and stability to the makerspace and Flint Local 432 during this transition period.

In her new role, Maiya will focus on strengthening financial oversight, building our fundraising pipeline, supporting staff, maintaining strong communication with the Board, and ensuring our programs continue without disruption. The Board will work closely with her throughout this period, with a formal review of her transition to permanent Executive Director planned by the end of the year.

Factory Two remains committed to its mission of providing accessible makerspace resources and a substance-free, youth-centered performing arts venue for our community. We are excited for this next chapter and grateful for the continued support of our members, volunteers, instructors, and community partners.

From Manager to mARTketer:
Factory Two would like to wish best of luck to Jewel Brown, who left her role as General Manager last week. We want to recognize her and thank her for everything she's contributed to the organization. Jewel has been a passionate advocate for both our makerspace and the value of making for everyone.

Jewel will still be around with two very visible community roles. First is her 'day job' at Soggy Bottom. Second is her growing Mar(T)ket project, vending machines set up to dispense items created by local artists! Save the date for a special event on August 7th at Soggy Bottom, and the pending drop of her newest vending machine - flash from local tattoo artists! Thanks Jewel, we can't wait to see what you make next.

Due to street closures for the Crim races it is impossible to get to the makerspace on race day. If you haven't run or walked, give it a try. If you would rather watch, spectating is a ton of fun as well.
